40 Minor Children Rescued from Traffickers
Government Railway Police (GRP) busted a racket of child traffickers and rescued 40 minor boys almost below 14 years of age, from interior parts of Bihar. They were headed to Punjab for working as child laborer. Five of those who were taking the children away, were arrested by the GRP.
The breakthrough came after the Child Line, Lucknow functioning under the ministry of child and women welfare, government of India tipped the GRP top brass at Lucknow about the movement of the children to Punjab to work as laborers on board Amrapali Express.
Senior GRP officials immediately laid out an action plan on the basis of which some Child Line volunteers were sent to board the train at Barabanki.
Fond of Littering on Streets, pay fine from Now on
Are you fond of throwing garbage on streets, prepare yourself for paying fine for the same. Usually people love to clean their house and throw garbage on streets, for those cleanliness lovers the Lucknow Municipal Corporation has started imposing fine.
Chief Minister Mayawati expressed her displeasure over the city cleanliness, which forced Lucknow Municipal Corporation to begin its drive against people littering on streets.
The fine is being imposed under the UP Municipal Act, 1959, which allows Municipal Corporation to do ‘compounding’. Municipal commissioner Shailesh Kumar Singh said that they would be slapping a fine of maximum up to Rs 500. ‘‘In case erring denizens do not pay on spot, a case would be registered against them with the CJM court,’’ he said.
He said that fine would be imposed only after being convinced of the guilt of those caught. ‘‘Like in case of those who litter the road in front of their house or commercial establishments,’’ he said.
SEE-2010 Conducted Amid Reports of Imposters
Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) Lucknow conducted State Entrance Examination (SEE -2010) successfully on Sunday. Some 2 Lakh 10 thousand candidates participated in the examination for entrance in various under graduate and post graduate courses by UPTU.
Some parts of the state also reported impostors trying to write examination for others, the state technical university has taken strict action against those and canceled their candidature.
The results are expected to be out by the end of this month
Intense Heat Wave Sweating the State
The state was reeling under severe heat wave on Sunday with unrelenting sun and hot gusty winds people to crave for early respite from the hard weather.
As Allahabad, Varanasi, Kanpur and Lucknow vied for being the hottest on the day, it was Allahabad that baked at 46 degrees Celsius.
The city witnessed the hottest day of the year so far with the mercury touching the highest mark.
The holy city of Varanasi was close second with mercury touching 45.2 degrees Celsius on the day, first time in the month of April, making it the hottest day of the season so far.
While the local met office recorded maximum temperature at 45.2 degrees Celsius (an increase of 0.5 degrees Celsius from Saturday’s mercury level), the minimum temperature too touched 26 degrees Celsius, providing no respite from hot weather conditions.
Blame Defaulters for Poor Power Situation in the State

Citizens of the state of Uttar Pradesh often blame government for poor power conditions in the state and allege that the government has nexus with inverter manufacturing companies. It might be true but one should also look at the other side of the coin.
There are several other reasons like power loss during transmission, power theft and one of the main reasons are defaulters who are not paying their bills and thus making the situation of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited(UPPCL) miserable.
According to the data compiled by UPPCL, the top defaulters are:
1. Fertilizer Unit, IEL (Duncan) Panki, Kanpur – Rs. 98 Crores.
2. Modi Industries, Modinagar, Ghaziabad – Rs. 82 Crores.
3. Ram Shree Steel, Orai, Jalaun – Rs. 18 Crores.
4. Real Cement, Jalaun – Rs. 16 Crores
There are around 105 defaulters who have dues more than Rs. 1 Crore.
Now these biggies go untouched either by taking stays from courts or by their political influence. Who pay the price? The Common Man who regularly pays their dues.
Lucknow Sweating with Sudden Temperature Rise
The effect of global warming is now fairly visible not only in the glaciers but
plains also.
The sudden heat waves pushed the mercury soaring in the state making life miserable and breaking all the records of heat in the month of March.
Varanasi was hottest in UP with 42 degrees Celsius maximum temperature, which was nine degrees above normal. It was followed by Agra with 41 degrees Celsius and Allahabad 40.3 degrees Celsius. Lucknow recorded 38.9 degrees Celsius, a degree higher than Sunday and six degrees above normal. Gorakhpur recorded 38.2 degrees Celsius and Bareilly 36.9 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperatures in most places in the state ranged between 36-40 degrees Celsius.

NLCL to Set a 2000 MW Power Plant in UP
Public Sector Unit, the Nayveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLCL) ,a central government’s Mini Ratna has big plans to set up at coal based electricity generation plant in Ghatampur, Kanpur Dehat of 2000 MW production capacity. This electricity plant will be proved a boon for the energy starved state.
Around 2000 hectares barren land has been identified in Ghatampur for the project.
THE project will be a joint venture of NLCL and Up government. The government is working on the finer details about the project including the percentage of power the state will receive.
Once the details are set the project would take around four years to complete and incur an expense of rupees 20000 crores to NLCL for setup of the plant and machineries.
The coal supply will be probably done from Singrauli and Mahanadi regions of Madhya Pradesh and Orissa, however it is not finalized yet.
CMs assets to be made public – Congress

After the garland controversy with the CM, now congress wants to reap benefits by making public the list of the properties which Mayawati has. Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said that the dalit icon has no longer “Dalit ki beti” but “Daulat ki beti”. He further added that his party will bring her to the book of the court of “common man” of the state.
Maya’s garland Lands her in Controversy
The garland which Mayawati was flaunting during the BSP maharally landed her in a fresh trouble where IT department has started an enquiry on the issue.
The issue became bitterer when PWD minister of the state admitted that the garland was made of Rs. 1000 denomination currency notes and valued at Rs 21 lacks .
In reply BSP stated that the garland was made from the donations collected from the party members and denied all allegations.
