NLCL to Set a 2000 MW Power Plant in UP

Public Sector Unit, the Nayveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLCL) ,a central government’s Mini Ratna has big plans to set up at coal based electricity generation plant in Ghatampur, Kanpur Dehat of 2000 MW production capacity. This electricity plant will be proved a boon for the energy starved state.
Around 2000 hectares barren land has been identified in Ghatampur for the project.
THE project will be a joint venture of NLCL and Up government. The government is working on the finer details about the project including the percentage of power the state will receive.
Once the details are set the project would take around four years to complete and incur an expense of rupees 20000 crores to NLCL for setup of the plant and machineries.
The coal supply will be probably done from Singrauli and Mahanadi regions of Madhya Pradesh and Orissa, however it is not finalized yet.
