Fond of Littering on Streets, pay fine from Now on
Saturday, April 24, 2010 8:58Are you fond of throwing garbage on streets, prepare yourself for paying fine for the same. Usually people love to clean their house and throw garbage on streets, for those cleanliness lovers the Lucknow Municipal Corporation has started imposing fine.
Chief Minister Mayawati expressed her displeasure over the city cleanliness, which forced Lucknow Municipal Corporation to begin its drive against people littering on streets.
The fine is being imposed under the UP Municipal Act, 1959, which allows Municipal Corporation to do ‘compounding’. Municipal commissioner Shailesh Kumar Singh said that they would be slapping a fine of maximum up to Rs 500. ‘‘In case erring denizens do not pay on spot, a case would be registered against them with the CJM court,’’ he said.
He said that fine would be imposed only after being convinced of the guilt of those caught. ‘‘Like in case of those who litter the road in front of their house or commercial establishments,’’ he said.
