40 Minor Children Rescued from Traffickers
Saturday, April 24, 2010 8:59Government Railway Police (GRP) busted a racket of child traffickers and rescued 40 minor boys almost below 14 years of age, from interior parts of Bihar. They were headed to Punjab for working as child laborer. Five of those who were taking the children away, were arrested by the GRP.
The breakthrough came after the Child Line, Lucknow functioning under the ministry of child and women welfare, government of India tipped the GRP top brass at Lucknow about the movement of the children to Punjab to work as laborers on board Amrapali Express.
Senior GRP officials immediately laid out an action plan on the basis of which some Child Line volunteers were sent to board the train at Barabanki.
