The Extension Training Centre, Bakshi Ka Talab, Lucknow established earlier on October 2nd, 1952 is at present functioning separately as Regional Institute of Rural Development. On April 1, 1982 the Composite Training Centre, Bakshi Ka Talab, Lucknow was converted into the State Rural Development Training & Research Institute according to the decision taken at a meeting organized in November, 1980 in National Institute of Rural Development, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad.
Later in November 1991, the name was changed to State Institute of Rural Development Training and Research. Subsequently the institute was renamed as Deendayal Upadhyaya State Institute of Rural Development, Bakshi Ka Talab, Lucknow on 30 July, 1994.
The Institute is located in the serene rural surroundings of Bakshi Ka Talab about 20 Km away from the historic city of Lucknow.
